The tech job market is broken

Some years ago, it used to be that you could easily switch jobs to a new position, even if you hadn’t all the listed knowledge requirements.

You could easily approach new opportunities for growth because companies were interested in your potential. Not anymore.

Nowadays, all what recruiters care about is: do you fit the mould? Do you tick all their checkboxes?

Your overall experience is irrelevant in their eyes.

Do you have X years of experience in Y? No? Not interested.

You’re discarded with the same regard as the level of attention they pay to your CV, which is almost none.

At multiple points through my career, I changed into positions where I didn’t had much, or no, experience with stack being used and still managed to do fine.

It’s no longer a reality.
